SUBJECT: January, June, and August 2022 Regents Examination Schedules
This memorandum is to advise you that the final January, June, and August 2022 Regents Examination schedules are now available on the Department’s website. In creating these final schedules, Department staff have reviewed the feedback received from stakeholders statewide, including: district superintendents; school superintendents; school principals and testing coordinators; and charter, religious, and independent school leaders. To the extent possible, we have incorporated suggested changes into the final schedules. In developing Regents Examination schedules, the Department’s primary consideration is to create schedules that are as conducive as possible to student achievement. Also of consideration, is the scheduling of examinations to maximize the amount of time available for scoring. The feedback that we have received has been helpful in enabling us to achieve these objectives.
In June 2022, a new examination, the Regents Examination in United States History and Government (Framework), will be introduced. The first administration of this examination was originally scheduled for June 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, administration of the Examination in United States History and Government (Framework) was postponed, initially until June 2021, and more recently to June 2022.
The Regents Examination in United States History and Government (Framework) will be administered on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Because this is a new examination, the administration must take place early in the month to allow time for score collection and standard setting in order for the conversion chart to be posted by the Rating Day, Friday, June 24, 2022.
Please note that in 2022, June 19th falls on a Sunday so, in accordance with State law, the Juneteenth holiday will be observed on Monday, June 20, 2022, and schools will be closed on this day. Accordingly, no Regents Examinations will be administered on Monday, June 20, 2022.

SUBJECT: Dates for the January 2023, June 2023, and August 2023
Regents Examination Periods. The dates for the January, June, and August 2023 Regents Examination periods are being provided at this time to assist schools and districts with developing their local school calendars for the 2022-23 school year. We very much appreciate all the input from superintendents and other school and district leaders that enabled us to arrive at these final dates.
The Regents Examination periods are determined with the following factors taken into consideration: The January examination period is four days, and is scheduled close to the end of the month. The June 2023 examination period is eight days, scheduled close to the end of the month but allowing at least two weekdays in June after the examination period ends. The August examination period is two days, and is scheduled to allow for a 30-day summer school session ending with the examinations.
Specific examination schedules for these three examination periods will be provided near the end of this school year. Prior to finalizing the schedules, we will be providing drafts and asking for feedback regarding the draft schedules in much the same way that we sought out and utilized feedback from school and district leaders on these final dates.
Dates for the January 2023 Regents Examination period: Tuesday, January 24 through Friday, January 27.
Dates for the June 2023 Regents Examination period: Wednesday, June 14 through Friday, June 23. No State examinations will be administered on Monday, June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Friday, June 23 will be a Rating Day; no State examinations will be administered on this date. Dates for the August 2023 Regents Examination period: Wednesday, August 16 and Thursday, August 17
